Quarteto Sombra y Luz

Sombra y Luz refers to a style of art with stark contrasts between shadows and light creating a subtle yet deep mood. Trio Sombra y Luz plays a fusion of bossa nova, bolero, samba, flamenco and jazz-- comprised of four musicians whose love for the rich melody, harmony and rhythm that these genres share:

Vocalist Sandy Cressman is known for her group "Homenagem Brasileira", as well as singing Salsa with Orquesta Candela. Sandy has also recorded with such diverse artists as Pete Escovedo, Ray Obiedo, Columna B and many more.

Dan Foltz is the drummer for the brazilian dance bands Vivendo De Pao and Boca Do Rio, the Latin Jazz band Jazz Caliente and multi-instrumentalist Natasha Miller. For five years he worked with Lavay Smith and the Red Hot Skillet Lickers. He toured the U.S. and Europe with Linda Perry, Storm and Her Dirty Mouth, Black Lab and Grammy winning artist Shelby Lynne.

Guitarist Paul Mousavi has recorded,toured and performed with a long list of Jazz legends and luminaries.
Recent years have found him deeply immersed in Flamenco guitar and Brazilian/Latin music in general,
all the while composing in each of these idioms.

Larry De La Cruz studied saxophone and composition at the Berklee College of Music in Boston. His professional playing experience includes Bobby Hutcherson, Kenny Werner, Bob Berg, Dave Liebman, Steve Smith, Doc Severensen, Phil Woods, Lou Rawls, The Temptations, The San Diego Symphony, The Classical Philharmonic and many others. Currently, Larry teaches saxophone, clarinet and flute at the Danville Music Store and at his home studio.
